Posted on 9 May at 7:52 am

Microsoft has released the Windows 10 KB5026361 and KB5026362 cumulative updates for versions 22H2, version 21H2, version 21H1, and 1809 to fix problems and add new features to the operating system.

Microsoft will automatically install these updates via Windows Update over the next few days. However, you can install them manually now by going to Settings, clicking on Windows Update, and selecting ‘Check for Updates.’

The complete list of Windows 10 updates released today as part of Microsoft’s March 2023 Patch Tuesday are:

  • Windows 10 version 1507 — KB5026382 (OS Build 10240.19926)
  • Windows 10 version 1607 — KB5026363 (OS Build 14393.5921)
  • Windows 10 version 1703 — EOS
  • Windows 10 version 1709 — EOS
  • Windows 10 version 1803 — EOS
  • Windows 10 version 1809 — KB5026362 (OS Build 17763.4377)
  • Windows 10 version 1903 — EOS
  • Windows 10 version 1909 — EOS
  • Windows 10 version 2004/21H1 — EOS/EOS
  • Windows 10 version 20H2, 21H1, 21H2, and 22H2 — May 9, 2023—KB5026361 (OS Builds 19042.2965, 19044.2965, and 19045.2965) – Microsoft Support

What’s fixed in May 2023 updates

Microsoft says the update fixes a race condition in Windows Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS), where a bug caused the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) to stop responding.

This occurs when the system processes multiple local account operations simultaneously. The access violation error code is 0xc0000005.

After the upgrade, you can now effortlessly sync your language and region settings whenever you update your Microsoft account display language or regional format. In addition, by enabling Language preferences sync in your Windows backup settings, your customized settings will be automatically saved to your account.

Additionally, the company has resolved an issue that previously affected Microsoft Edge IE mode. Pop-up windows will now open in the foreground instead of in the background. Another issue impacting Edge IE mode was also fixed, as the Tab Window Manager should no longer stop responding.

Thanks to this update, you may also notice a fresh look for specific mobile provider app icons.

Moreover, the company has resolved an issue with the Chinese input method where the first suggested item was not entirely visible.
